Ok, I need some guidance- I am less than a week away from my band and I need some recommendations on what protein powders, drinks, bars (for later) you prefer. They have a store at my surgeons office but if I can find it closer and cheaper with reviews from those of you who have used them I would prefer to go that route.
Also what were the ways you "mixed things up" so you wouldn't get bored with the same ol thing day after day.
Thanks for your help and I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
I've enjoyed Unjury brand protein powders for over three years. unjury.com
ReplyDeleteThe QUALITY of protein is important.
You get what you pay for.
My surgeon recommended Whey Protein Isolate type of protein.
I agree, I have tried some differnt protien powders and I like the Unjury the best. I have tried cheaper brands but YUCK they do not mix well!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I have been doing is blending an EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control Protien drinks with a 1/2 banana, 1/2 c. fat free cottage cheese & 2 tsp of splenda & 1 tsp vanilla extract with some ice. This gets me like 29 - 31 grams of protien depending on the cottage cheese. There are a variety of flavors and you can jazz it up with just about anything.
I also bought baby food fruits to mix with greek yogurt. Peaches and bananas worked best for me. Adding a little skim milk to thin it out makes it "straw" consistancy.
Good luck with surgery and Happy Thanksgiving to you!
I ate greek yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese with pureed fruit, jello and homemade beef and turkey broth. I don't like protien drinks or bars, if I did all of those other diets would have worked. I also can't afford special foods. I ate real food mushed up in the food processor and thinned out. A lot of scambled eggs in the mushy stage. I worked toward the solids slowly. I never had a problem and the doctor said I was doing fine. I eat the same foods my family does, just way way way less. I do stay away from stringy/shedded meat and veggies like cole slaw, they are guaranteed to stick. I have lost 60 in 11 month with 30 to go. The post surgery stage went fast and I don't remember having too much trouble. Just go slow. Good luck, you will do fine.
